Are There Any Airline Credit Cards Without an Annual Fee?

Posted on May 17, 2018 by Rewards

Airline rewards credit cards are an excellent way to earn free flights and seat upgrades. However, many of the best airline credit cards charge a hefty annual fee. Are there any airline credit cards without an annual fee? Absolutely! However, you may not earn as many miles as some of the premium cards that do charge an annual fee.

Here are some of the best airline credit cards that do not charge an annual fee.

Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card
The Capital One VentureOne card offers an introductory 0% APR for the first 12 months on purchases and balance transfers. When you spend $1,000 within the first three months of opening your account, you will earn 20,000 miles, which is equal to about $200 in travel. After that, you will earn 1.25 miles per every dollar spent. Recently, Capital One also partnered with Hotels.com, so when cardholders book hotel stays through hotels.com/venture, they will earn 10 miles per dollar. Miles never expire, and there is no limit to how many you can earn.

Capital One Spark Miles Select for Business
If you are a small business owner, you may be interested in the Capital One Spark Miles Select card. Capital One offers new cardholders 0% APR on purchases for the first 9 months, and a one-time bonus of 20,000 miles when you spend $3,000 within the first three months. After that, you will earn 1.5 miles for every $1 spent. Miles never expire, and there are no limits on what you can buy with your miles or where you can spend them, which means you can fly on any airline.

Bank of America Travel Rewards Credit Card
New Bank of America Travel Rewards cardholders will receive 20,000 bonus points if they spend $1,000 within the first three months of opening their account. This bonus could be used as a $200 statement credit on travel purchases. Cardholders also earn 1.5 points per dollar spent on all purchases. Points never expire, and can be used for any travel expenses. Cardholders aren’t limited to any specific airline, rental car agency, cruise agency, or travel booking site.

Blue Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express
The downside to the Blue Delta SkyMiles credit card is that the mileage earned must be used on Delta flights. However, if you fly the airline often, there are a number of benefits. For example, you will earn a 20% discount on all in-flight purchases, which will appear as a statement credit. When you spend $500 within the first three months, you will receive 10,000 bonus miles. Additionally, cardholders earn two miles per dollar spent at U.S. restaurants and on purchases made with Delta. Cardholders receive one mile for every other dollar spent.

Discover it Miles
The Discover it Miles card offers cardholders 1.5 miles per dollar on all purchases, and account holders can redeem their miles with any airline or hotel with no blackout dates. Discover also matches miles at the end of a cardholder’s first year. For example, if you earn 30,000 miles during the first year, you will actually receive 60,000 miles.
