The grand opening of the Burkes Outlet Uvalde store is set June 24, and the business will be giving away a $100 gift card via prize drawing that day.
The outlet store, which also has two San Antonio locations, sells toys, clothing, shoes, handbags, home accessories, beauty products and more.
Located at 2326 E. Main St., occupying the former Bealls slot at the Uvalde Plaza shopping center, Burkes Outlet is expected to occupy approximately 10,000 square feet less than the 36,000 square feet Bealls occupied.
According to their website, Burkes Outlet was started in Florida in 1987 as Bealls Outlets by E.R. Beall, son of Bealls Department Store founder Robert M. Beall. This line of Burkes/Bealls is not affiliated with the former Bealls, which was operated by Stage Stores. The company initially had three locations and changed their name when they opened a store in Alabama in 1998.
The company has recently been expanding across the state of Texas, and has more than 400 locations in the U.S.
Burkes Outlet plans to offer games and giveaways during the 10-day grand opening celebration, set to end July 4.
Gift card treasure hunts will be conducted Friday, June 25, Thursday, July 1, and Saturday, July 3, with a limited number of gift card vouchers hidden throughout the store.
A virtual prize wheel will be in effect for those who sign up for the store loyalty rewards program on Thursday, June 24, Sunday, June 27 and Sunday, July 4.
According to the store website, the rewards program offers members up to 10-percent off in-store purchases on Mondays, a 15 percent single-item discount birthday reward, and a $5 reward for $200 spent. The program may be seen on the website, www.burkesoutlet.com.
