The resort also will share amenities with the new Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa, opening on the same campus in July, according to company officials.
Located along the bluffs on 5420 Grand Pacific Drive in Carlsbad, the Sheraton’s revamped guest rooms and suites will blend with the resort’s Mediterranean-style, and 48 suites, all new construction, will feature two bedrooms, including a king-sized, master bedroom, a living room and a second bedroom with two twin beds.
“We’re proud to unveil a completely refreshed resort this summer to both guests and locals alike,” said Chris Draper, managing director of the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. “With a plethora of family-friendly activities at our doorstep and the added benefit of earning Starwood Reward points with each stay, we know the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa will continue to thrive as a premier property in coastal North County San Diego.”
Chef Gil Manipon will operate the new 7 Mile Kitchen, a restaurant named after the city’s seven-mile stretch of Pacific coastline. Manipon has an extensive culinary background with hotels and resorts, most recently at Viejas Casino & Resort in Alpine, managers said.
The restaurant will offer local craft beers, gourmet burgers and hand-crafted signature pizzas.
A poolside restaurant will feature a gelato bar with a variety of seasonal and signature locally-sourced flavors, and fire pits for nightly s’mores making. The resort also will include more than 40,000 square feet of indoor-outd0or, meeting space for group events and weddings.
Other property updates include a new zero-entry pool and waterslide, kids’ activity center with family-friendly games and offerings – including a seasonal “Dive-In” movie series. Sheraton guests also will be able to access amenities at the resort’s sister property, The Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa, slated to open in July.

Beginning in August, guests will be able to combine their separate Marriott Rewards, Ritz-Carlton Rewards and SPG rewards into a single account spanning the entire hotel portfolio.
