Just a couple of weeks after Marriott International announced it will combine the Marriott Rewards, Ritz Carlton Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) loyalty programs in August, Starwood has come out with a new point bonus promotion.
From now through June 15, Marriott said, SPG members who use the SPG Mobile App to check in for their stays will get 250 Starpoints each time they do so, with no cap on the number of points that can be earned.
The offer applies for check-ins at more than 1,100 hotels in seven Starwood brands, including St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, Sheraton, Westin, Le Meridien, Tribute Portfolio and Four Points.
The company wants to make sure members know that they can now use mobile check-in as a feature of the SPG Mobile App if they booked their stays directly with SPG (on its website or in the app). Members will get a notice two or three days before arrival asking if they want to check in with the app.
On arrival day, members will see a notice sent to their mobile device telling them that their room is ready and their key is waiting at the front desk. Members who check out with the app will have their folio emailed to them.
The SPG app is available in the App Store and at Google Play.
Have you checked in a hotel using an app yet? How’d that go for you? Please leave your experience in the comments or on our Facebook page.
