The Winter Olympics begin on February 4, 2022. And while spirited competition and heated patriotism are exciting enough, you could have another reason to root for Team USA if you open the U.S. Bank Business Leverage® Visa Signature® Card.

For a limited time, the card’s welcome bonus will increase depending on the number of medals Team USA wins. If they score at least 36 medals, you could earn up to $900 by opening this card and meeting its minimum spending requirement.

Here’s what you need to know about this deal.

We’re focused here on the rewards and perks that come with each card. These cards won’t be worth it if you’re paying interest or late fees. When using a credit card, it’s important to pay your balance in full each month, make payments on time, and only spend what you can afford to pay.

The U.S. Bank Business Leverage card is a small-business credit card that offers the following main benefits:

    • 2 points per dollar in the top two categories you spend most, such as restaurants, office supply stores, gas stations, wholesale goods providers, entertainment, and dozens more (and 1 point per dollar on everything else). The card will automatically detect your top categories each month.
    • 5% back on prepaid hotels and rental cars booked through US Bank’s Travel Rewards Center
    • No foreign transaction fees
    • Free employee cards with the ability to control each card’s spending
    • Visa Signature benefits, including extended warranty protection, rental car insurance, etc.

It charges a $0 intro annual fee for 12 months, then $95.

This card is also currently offering a fantastic sign-up bonus: 75,000 bonus points after spending at least $7,500 in purchases on the card in 120 days from account opening (offer ends February 20, 2022). That’s the equivalent of a 10x point bonus for your spending (plus the normal rewards you’ll receive from regular spending).

And for a limited time, this bonus will offer up to 15,000 more points, based on the performance of Team USA at the Winter Olympics. It doesn’t matter where Team USA places, as long as they get a medal. Here’s what you’ll get:

    • 0-35 medals — 7,500 bonus points
    • 36+ medals — 15,000 bonus points

In other words, if Team USA earns 36 medals, you’ll receive a total of 90,000 points from this card’s bonus, assuming you meet the minimum spending requirement. You can redeem points you earn with this card for 1 cent each, making this 90,000-point bonus worth $900.

The winter Olympics run from February 4 to February 20, 2022. And because this bonus is available through February 20, 2022, you can wait to apply when you’ll know for certain how many medals Team USA wins. That way you’ll know if you’re getting a total bonus of $825 or $900.

US Bank small business cards don’t appear on your personal credit report. Therefore, they won’t hamper your chances of being approved for Chase credit cards in the future. Chase has a strict application rule (dubbed the Chase 5/24 rule) that prevent anyone who has opened five or more credit cards (from any bank) in the past 24 months from being approved for most Chase credit cards.

    Bottom line

We’ve never seen a higher bonus for the U.S. Bank Business Leverage card than this current offer. If you value what is essentially cash back, this card could make sense for your situation.

Just note that you’ll earn 2 points per dollar with only two categories per month. There are a handful of no-annual-fee credit cards that offer 2% back for all purchases. For example, the Citi® Double Cash Card earns 1% when you make a purchase and 1% when you pay off that purchase — effectively 2% back everywhere.
