Singapore Airlines is adding another full year to the status of all KrisFlyer and PPS Club members, in a sign that the carrier expects a slow recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
During the early days of COVID-19 the airline was among the world’s first to announce a 12 month extension for frequent flyers whose membership renewal date fell between March 2020 and February 2021.
That gratis status is now being bumped out by another year.
KrisFlyer and PPS Club status due to expire between March 2021 and February 2022 – which covers everyone who’s already enjoyed that first boost – will now be automatically extended from between March 2022 and February 2023.
(This supersedes the September 2020 announcement that all KrisFlyer Elite Silver and Gold members with a renewal date between March 2021 and February 2022 would be gifted 50% of the Elite Miles required for requalification, as there’s now be no need to make up the difference when it comes to your annual Elite Miles tally.)
If you’ve managed to earn any KrisFlyer Elite miles during your current membership year (starting from March 2020 to February 2021), those will be rolled over to your next membership year.
In addition, Elite miles can now be earned on flights with Singapore Airlines’ low-cost arm Scoot.
As previously detailed, KrisFlyer miles expiring between January 2021 and June 2021 will now stay fresh for a further six months (this comes on top of several previous KrisFlyer miles extensions),
In short, Singapore Airlines’ loyalists will now end 2021 with at least the same status and KrisFlyer miles balance as when the pandemic set in.
KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards
KrisFlyer’s Elite Gold Rewards program has now been relaunched as KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards, with a variety of rewards available for every 5,000 Elite miles a member clocks up when flying with Singapore Airlines, SilkAir and Scoot (but not with Star Alliance partners) during the calendar year.
Your first 5,000 miles nets 1,500 KrisPay miles (worth S$10) which can be redeemed at over 750 of the airline’s dining, retail, wellness and other partner outlets in Singapore.
10,000 miles lands a $20 KrisShop promo code (with a minimum spend of S$100); 20,000 miles delivers 25% bonus KrisFlyer miles on a single flight segment of your choice, and 30,000 miles takes this to 50% bonus KrisFlyer miles.
It’s at the 40,000 mile mark that KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards begin to get relevant for anybody not living in Singapore, as this lands you a discount of 5,000 KrisFlyer miles on an award ticket or upgrade.
60,000 miles lets you earn double KrisFlyer miles on a single flight segment of your choice; at 75,000 miles you can pocket a confirmed one-class upgrade on any eligible short-range flight (between SQ’s Zones 1 and 2 or Zones 1 and 3).
Finally, when you clock up 100,000 miles there’s a confirmed upgrade from economy to premium economy on any flight segment.
