Texas Tech Athletics announced the Red Raider basketball season ticket holder redemption rewards program, Wednesday, Oct. 10.
The program gives season ticket holders who have had their tickets scanned at 90 percent of home games a special gift from Tech coach Chris Beard, according to a Tech Athletics release. Fans who participate in the ticket holder program but can’t attend games are encouraged to give the tickets to a friends, family or coworkers.
Program participants can also donate their tickets electronically to the Texas Tech Athletics Department, which will then pass along them along to a nonprofit organization. The Red Raider basketball program started this new initiative to ensure the home field advantage is evident during the season, according to the release.
The Red Raiders had a historical 2017-2018 season, in which Tech posted a record of 17-1 at home and advanced all the way to the NCAA Elite Eight, according to the release. The attendance last year increased from seventh in the Big 12, to fourth.
“The next level of support is coming to the games and when you can’t give your tickets filled then we have a home-court advantage before we even start. We want to see all of our friends at the game,” Beard said, according to the release.
The first game of the 2018-2019 season will be Tuesday, Nov. 6 against Incarnate Word, marking the first of a seventeen-game home slate at the United Supermarket Arena, according to the release.
