Teen’s killing in 1985 added to rewards program

Posted on July 12, 2018 by Rewards

The province has added a murder that happened more than three decades ago to its reward program aimed at unsolved crimes.

Tina Barron, 16, was reported missing Oct. 6, 1985. Her remains were discovered in a wooded area off Robinsons Road in Shubenacadie on Nov. 4 of that same year.

“This family deserves answers as they continue to grieve the loss of their loved one,” Justice Minister Mark Furey said in a news release. “I strongly encourage anyone with information about this crime to come forward and tell police.”

Police want anyone with information that could result in an arrest and possible charges to call the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes program at 1-888-710-9090. The reward is up to $150,000.

“Those who come forward with information must provide their name and contact information,” said the news release. “They may be called to testify in court. All calls will be recorded.”
