You can transfer American Express Membership Rewards to Hilton Honors with a bonus of 30%. The promotion is valid for transfers through November 30, 2018, and with the promotion, every 1,000 points you transfer will give you 2,600 Hilton Honors points. Typically, you can transfer Membership Rewards to Hilton Honors at a ratio of 1:2.

The Deal

  • The bonus is valid on transfers through November 30, 2018
  • The bonus is hard coded into the offer at a ratio of 1:2.6
  • You will receive 2,600 Hilton Honors points for every 1,000 Membership Rewards points you transfer
  • You need to transfer a minimum of 1,000 Membership Rewards points
  • You can make multiple transfers and still receive the bonus

Using Your Hilton Points

Since Hilton went to a dynamic pricing model for its awards in 2017, it has become a little tricky to figure out the best use of your points. While Hilton has kept its hotel categories, the price of an award night in points will depend on the cash price at the time. For instance, take the Waldorf Astoria Rome Cavalieri.

The cash price of a night will run to several hundred dollars, and the current maximum points you will pay for an award night is 80,000 points. To get enough Hilton Honors points with the promotion, you will need to transfer 31,000 Membership Rewards points.

If you can leverage your points for a top premium hotel like Conrad Maldives or the Waldorf Astoria Rome Cavalieri, then you can get some pretty decent value from your points with the promotion.

All Things Considered

Transferring Membership Rewards to Hilton Honors with a 30% bonus may seem like a good deal, and it could be if you are looking to top up your account to hit a specific redemption. If you don’t need a few thousand points to reach a specific goal, there are other ways to leverage better value out of your Membership Rewards points. Remember you can transfer Membership Rewards to various travel partners including 17 airlines. Transferring points to airlines and then redeeming them for award tickets will almost always work out as a better deal than transferring them to a hotel program, regardless of the bonus offered with the transfer.
