The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card already has a lot going for it: it has a sing-up bonus worth $500, earns 2 miles per dollar on all purchases, and those miles can be redeemed as a statement credit against most travel purchases made with the card at a fixed rate of 1 cent each. This means you’re getting a 2% return on all purchases.

But since the start of last year, Capital One has been trying to spice up the benefits of this card. In January, it announced that Venture Rewards cardholders will earn 10 miles per dollar spent booking hotel reservations through Hotels.com/Venture, paid with the card.  This is in part due to their new partnership with Hotels.com. Since this bonus can be stacked with the existing Hotels.com Rewards program, which awards you one free night per 10 paid nights, you can effectively earn 20% back on all hotel purchases.

Now there’s another big benefit: the Capital One Venture Rewards now comes with a rebate on either the $100 application fee for Global Entry, or the $85 fee for TSA PreCheck.

As being a member in the Global Entry program grants free access to TSA PreCheck, it makes sense to simply apply for Global Entry and get both, especially as one will get their fee rebated. And seeing as there’s no annual fee on the Venture Rewards for the first year, you can effectively get this rebate for free while trying out this card for a year at no cost to you.

Even if you already have Global Entry, don’t forget that you could use the rebate for someone else’s application, such as a friend or family member. Just be sure to pay for their application with your Venture Rewards card while submitting it online. It can be your early Christmas present, or as insurance against being stuck in line with a travel partner who doesn’t have Global Entry like you do.
